(Original) Microsoft Edge: I.E. Successor, But Still A Faliure
Microsoft Edge was designed to replace Microsoft Internet Explorer. It had plenty of nice
features on it that browsers such as Google Chrome didn't have, such as the ability to
write over a webpage and then save that as an image directly in the app, and
Cortana.
All that Microsoft did, unfortunately, wasn't enough to get people to move from Google
Chrome to Microsoft Edge, and just remained the "
App used to download Chrome". It gets
even worse due to the fact that Chrome sometimes deliberately sabotaged their websites, so
that they wouldn't be compatible with other browsers, even though they obviously were. We
know this as normally the Google-owned web-app would work with another browser one day, but
not the next, with no significant changes, so Microsoft decided to base Edge of Chromium.
I would have loved it if Chrome had some of the features Edge had, but if it wasn't for those
"compatibility" issues with some Google sites, I probably would stay with Microsoft Edge, but
even though it's amazing, I wouldn't recommend it.
